The BEST Finesse Trick For Cold Water Bass!! (Damiki Rig Fishing)

The Damiki Rig is an amazing technique for cold water bass fishing! Its slow, methodical approach can get wary bass to bite when nothing else will fool them. Fished properly (slowly), it can get bass to bite in the coldest temperatures you'll face all Winter. If you haven't given it a try, its time!

The concept behind the Damiki rig is very simple. Suspend a small baitfish imitating plastic above the fish in cold water and give them time to inspect it. As long as you can keep it sitting perfectly level and moving slowly, they'll usually eat it. This method rely's on the same concept as the float n fly to fool bass into biting but does it in a more manageable and angler–friendly way.

Below you'll find links to the exact baits we use for this technique. We've included our favorite sizes and colors, as well as the gear we use to fish the technique. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Winter Fishing Tips: Ultra Finesse Baits When Its COLD!!

Is Winter wearing you down? Are you catching nothing but a cold when you go to the lake? A lot of anglers share your struggle and a few even give up and wait for "fishing season" to come back around in Spring. Don't be those guys! Winter bass fishing can be incredibly rewarding if you know where the fish are and which baits they're willing to bite in the cold water.

Non-fisherman think we're crazy when they find out we're headed to the lake in Winter! They talk about how cold its going to be, how boring, how miserable... but they don't understand. They have no idea how peaceful it is to be on a giant lake, all alone. There are no wakeboard boats, no jet skis, and if you know where to look, there are a ton of fish to be caught!

Matt recently did a video about using swimbaits to catch BIG fish this time of year. Today we're talking about how to get consistent bites. We're not worried about the biggest bass, we're focused on getting out on the water and having fun catching fish! We have a handful of baits that produce consistently when the weather and the water turn cold.

Below are links to the exact baits discussed in the video. We've included our favorite colors, trailers, and heads where applicable. We've also included some of our favorite rods and reels for throwing these different presentations. All of the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

How To Fish The Damiki Rig - Winter Bass Fishing

Have you used the Damiki Rig? Its a great technique to catch Winter Bass! When nothing else is working the Damiki Rig has a unique fall and appearance that lures bites in difficult conditions. If you're desperate for a bite you can rely on this rig to come through in a pinch. Come along as Tim shows exactly how to use it this Winter.

The rig is designed with perfect balance. When fished vertically it sits perfectly level below the boat with a unique look that nothing else can mimic. When cast into deep water the bait has a spiral fall that bass simply can't resist! On a tight line it glides along with no motion at all but fish can't resist it! No matter how you fish it, it has a place in the arsenal. We'll follow this video up with a more in-depth fishing video down the road but we wanted to make sure you guys were aware of the technique during the cold water months.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and gear we use to fish the Damiki Rig. It was designed to be fished with its own bait as a trailer but there are some other great alternatives that we've listed as well.
