RUNAWAY BOAT CRASH!! - Lake Chickamauga Summer Boating

IT HAPPENS FAST! After the driver was ejected his boat spun out of control. With no operator to slow it down and the throttle pinned, the boat was whipping donuts uncontrollably. The boat made its way dangerously close to an island full of partying weekend boaters before ultimately crashing through the trees and underbrush. Could this have been prevented? Of course!

Boating has inherent risks. Raising those risks by ignoring the boat's built-in safety features is negligent. Its easy to see the mistake in hindsight. Admittedly, we've all made the same mistake at some point. Let this incident cement the importance of wearing your kill switch. Its imperative not only for your safety but also for the safety of those recreating around you. Thankfully the boat driver in this incident was uninjured after being ejected from his boat and all of the on lookers were spared as well. The only real damage in this crash was to the boat as it plowed through trees and sand repeatedly.

The message here is anything can happen when you're on the water. When it does happen, it happens quickly. Wear your life jacket and kill switch any time the outboard is running. If something happens, its better to be prepared than caught off guard. Below are links to the life jackets we use when we're on the water as well as some budget friendly options. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of the items.

** When purchasing inflatable PFD's its wise to purchase the  automatic versions so there is an extra level of security if you are not alert when the life jacket is needed.**

Happy New Year! Where Will TacticalBassin Be In 2020???

2019 was truly incredible! We were blessed to fish in 25 states, 3 countries, and got to meet so many incredible members of the Tactical Bassin Family! With all the travel we were able to learn new techniques, test theories, and experience an incredible variety of fishing conditions. We were blessed to take all of you along with us on the adventures and are thrilled about what awaits in 2020!

In 2020 we plan to travel even more! New adventures in fresh and saltwater, trips to more exotic locations, and of course, as much bass fishing as we can possibly pack in! We plan to spend more time on the water with our families and look forward to seeing our wives and kids take a larger roll in the channel. If you're ready for an exciting year, be sure to come along!

The key to success in any endeavor is goal setting. In 2019 we set a goal of reaching 250,000 subscribers and catching "teener" bass. We were blessed to surpass our subscriber goal because of you, thank you so much! While we were unsuccessful in catching bass exceeding 13 lbs this year, we were blessed with a ton of amazing catches throughout the year, including a handful of new world records!

Our goals for 2020 are quite simple. First, we want to see the channel reach 400,000 subscribers. We want to spend more time on the water fishing with friends and family, and we want to visit new destinations we've never fished before. 2020 is going to be incredible! We cannot wait to take you along on the journey!

Did you achieve your goals for 2019? What are your goals for 2020? Comment below and let us know!

TacticalBassin's Latest World Record! (And How To Get Your Own World Record)

Matt and CC just returned home from an amazing trip to the Arctic! While there Matt had the opportunity to catch a giant Arctic Char that has been submitted for the 8 lb Line Class World Record! What's more amazing, an EVEN BIGGER Char was caught! Come along as Matt tells the tale of this incredible trip to Canada's Arctic!

This was truly a trip of a lifetime! While on the trip Matt and CC managed to land a handful of world record class fish! Reaching the amazing fish of Nunavut and the Northwest Territories is no small feat; including multiple flights on jets, prop planes, float planes, and ultimately boats. But all of the effort was worth it when the giant Lake Trout, Grayling, and Arctic char showed themselves! Matt tells the tale in a way that only he could, but before he's done he begins teaching what every angler needs to know about catching a world record.

He explains some of the requirements, exactly what scale anglers should carry, and even dispels a few myths surrounding world record fish. Don't get caught up in the rumors and misinformation that surrounds record keeping, the process is simple if you prepare ahead of time and keep a calm head when the giant fish appears. We hope you find the information helpful and perhaps you will catch a world record of your own on an upcoming trip!

Below you'll find a breakdown of the scales and equipment Matt and CC used in the Arctic to catch their record fish.

Cross Country Trip Begins With Grand Slam!

We're coming to a lake near you! The TacticalBassin crew is hitting the road so keep an eye out the next time you pump gas, head for the launch ramp, or pull up along side a boat on the freeway. Our first stop as we head cross country is Elephant Butte, New Mexico. The trip started off with a bang as Matt landed an unexpected Grand Slam on this amazing fishery!

The bass in Elephant Butte had to survive terrible conditions in recent years. The lake was drawn down to only 3% of capacity at its worst but is now well on its way to filling back up. The fishing has begun to rebound with many big bass being caught this Spring. Matt, CC, and Sierra chose the lake as their first stop as they travel. across the US to find out if the fishing in New Mexico is as good as they'd heard. They weren't disappointed and you won't be either!

Keep an eye out for the TacticalBassin crew in your area. We'll be traveling all through the South, Midwest, and much of the North. We're making as many stops as possible so you just don't know where we will show up next... but word is that Texas and Oklahoma anglers should keep an eye out first.
