4 Hours In Texas, Catches A 10 LB Bass!! Tim's INSANE Day On The Water!

Tim caught a Texas giant! He's driving cross-country with his friend Wes and bad weather ahead forces them to stop in a small Texas town for the night. They decide to hit a nearby lake for a half day before getting back on the road and chaos ensued! They caught 45 bass, had over 34 lbs for the best 5, with a 10.28 lb kicker! Come along for this whirlwind half-day adventure!

The bass had baitfish cornered in a cove, Tim and Wes took full advantage, using a variety of shad-imitating baits to draw reaction strikes. Most of the fish, including the 10 lber came on a brand-new rig that we've been designing with Hog Farmer. Its a 6-wire A-Rig built to our exact specifications so the days of endless A-Rig modifications can finally be over. The HogFarmer TacticalBassin Flex Rig is available for pre-order here: https://bit.ly/38xd1es and should be shipping in 2-3 weeks.

These fish were in a full pre-spawn feeding frenzy! After all the cold that hit Texas, the bass needed to bulk back up before heading into Spring. They were using bushes and trees as ambush points to attack the shad and the guys were able to capitalize on the behavior. They only had a few hours to fish before getting back on the road but they made the best of it and will never forget this awesome day of Texas Bass Fishing!

All of the baits they used, the exact colors, as well as their gear, are linked in the description below. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of the items.

Buyer's Guide: Best Jerkbaits For Bass Fishing

In today's Buyer's Guide we're looking at the best jerkbaits for catching bass throughout the year. Whether you're looking for a subtle jerkbait for cold water fishing or an aggressive jerkbait for the Spring and Fall bites, we've got you covered. Understanding the differences between jerkbaits and when to throw each style will make all the difference!

The jerkbait, also known as a rip bait, is one of the best lures to trigger a feed response in a bass. The combination of aggressive movement followed by suspension is more than most bass can resist! In the cooler months, a bait that will perfectly suspend is the key. As water temperatures drop its important to let the bait pause for long periods of time between jerks of the rod. In warmer temperatures the pauses are much shorter so balance becomes less important. During these warmer periods, baits that give off maximum flash and vibration are the key to standing out amongst the baitfish.

It doesn't matter if you're just getting in to jerkbait fishing or you're a seasoned pro, these are the baits that will help you maximize your time on the water. Below you'll find links to all of the baits shown in the video. We've also included our favorite colors for each, as well as some of the rod and reels we use to throw jerkbaits.

Winter Jerkbait Fishing - Tricks To Get More Bites

Matt finds a group of cold water bass and is catching them on a jerkbait! Between catches he's showing tricks to catch more jerkbait fish in cold water. He also covers which baits work the best, how to change your retrieve for different baits, and which gear will help you put more jerkbait fish in the boat during Winter. If you want to throw a jerkbait this Winter, there is a ton of great information in this video!

The trick to catching jerkbait fish in cold water is retrieve speed. The bass are lethargic but will still react to a suspending jerkbait worked very slowly. Most of the baits on the market simply do not work in cold water because they don't suspend consistently. Today Matt is using the Megabass Vision 110, 110+1, and 110+2 to cover a variety of depth ranges. The key to these baits is their balance and ability to perfectly suspend which allows Matt to leave the baits paused above the fish for long periods.

The jerkbait is a deadly bait  from Fall all the way through Spring. If your water has at least a foot of visibility and your bass are shallower than 18-20 feet, there is the potential for a jerkbait bite. Below is a breakdown of the baits, colors, and equipment that Matt was using to catch the fish in today's video.
